PowerPhlogger has not had any active development for more than 2 years. The announced successor Phlogger3 will not be released. Also, I am not able to provide you with support for any previous version.
I am sorry about the bad news.
PowerPhlogger was a great project and it grew to a huge community of users and supporters. I really appreciate all the help and enthusiasm you brought towards this project.
During the last years I had to move on and focus on other projects. Sometimes it just seems that life's a bit too short for all the things I'd like to do...
All PowerPhlogger sites will stay online and the board on http://forum.phpee.com is still there. As long as you keep it running, PowerPhlogger will not die. Maybe, some day somebody will write a fork of PowerPhlogger and move on. I am looking forward to it.
take care, Philip Iezzi
Finally we are going to inform you about the future of PowerPhlogger. We no
longer want to make a secret out of what is going on with the code base of PPhlogger.
Currently PPhlogger 2.2.5 is available on PHPEE.COM.
In the last couple of releases, no more new features have been added. Most
releases were just maintenance releases with a couple of bug-fixes.
Here is the answer to the most asked question "Where have you guys gone?". No, we were not lazy. We didn't stop our work on PPhlogger - no, we would never!
Things are different. We started our work on Phlogger3, the next generation of PowerPhlogger. Phlogger3 might even deserve the prefix "power"...
Phlogger version 3 is going to be a near total rewrite of the current PPhlogger code base. Current code in version 2.x is quite messy and it was time to change that. Extending the old code and adding new features became harder and harder. We don't want the future development on PPhlogger to get a complete waste of time, so we decided to start from zero and build a clean code base.
Phlogger3's code will not be available to public till it gets released as RC1 or any beta-version. The CVS tree of current 2.x versions is available though on http://cvs.phpee.com/.
Here are the requirements of the upcoming version 3 of PowerPhlogger:
- PHP 5 >= 5.0.0RC2
- any of the following DBS:
MySQL (>= 3.23.xx), PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Sybase, InterBase, FrontBase
- PHP modules/requirements: GD-library (with TTF linkage), Freetype-library, XML support, PCRE support
- a web server (oh, yeah, really? :) - e.g. Apache, Microsoft IIS
Phlogger3 will no longer support any PHP4 versions. By the time we are going to release Phlogger3,
PHP 5 will have reached its final version. There is no exact release schedule yet.
Sorry for letting you wait such a long time. It will be released when the product is finished.
Please do not pose any release date questions. Finally we have learned: Better no promises than empty promises!
Now, go ahead and check our development plans...
